Your responsibilities

Learning and Development

  • Lead the development of learning pathways for consultants
  • Lead the development of learning materials and organise all trainings for consultants
  • Manage consultants’ learning and development progress

Talent management and engagement

  • Develop and implement community engagement framework including fireside chats, newsletters etc.
  • Organise frequent consultants’ community events
  • Frequent communication through 1:1 calls or group calls with consultants to conduct temperature checks, identify and address concerns

Talent team supervision

  • Coach and supervise junior members of the talent team
  • Review and conduct quality checks of the output of junior members of the talent team
  • Ensure recruiting and staffing functions are being delivered to meet firm strategy

Project scope management and proposal delivery

  • Collaborate with client and Project Principals to conceptualisation scope of projects
  • Oversee the execution of proposal on time and spec
  • Perform quality and sense-checks on out-going proposals
  • Train and manage Client Services Analysts and Associates in proposal development

 

Process and resource building 

  • Develop scope and proposal library
  • Develop and foster the implementation of a comprehensive knowledge management strategy through Golden Bridge
  • Creation of knowledge documents based on executed missions to augment AFG’s knowledge database
  • Identify and assist in the execution of strategies for closing knowledge gaps within existing processes and propose streamlined approaches to advance knowledge.

Case study writing

  • Support with writing one 20-30-page case study about an African business per month, including research of supporting facts
  • Attend interviews and calls with the business under analysis
  • Edit and finalize case study based on feedback from experts and business representatives

Op-ed writing

  • Help with the development of op-eds published on behalf of management team members of AFG to build the profile of the business

Marketing support

  • Support the AFG communications team with the copywriting of social media campaigns
  • Collaborate with the talent team on the development of regular blog posts about the talent journeys of colleagues in the company
  • Review and edit content for websites under management of AFG

Proofreading

  • Assist in reviewing longer documents generated by other team members in AFG to improve quality
  • Establish writing guidelines that must be adhered to by all members of the company

As the Programme Manager at AFG, you will be running a flagship initiative of AFG called African Hidden Champions (AHC) (www.africanhiddenchampions.com) as well as further spin-off initiatives related to this programme. AHC is the leading network for African companies that are secretly building the muscle for global leadership and range from 20-500M in revenue. Companies in the network receive visibility, international market access and expert advisory support. You are the perfect fit for this role if you love the idea of supporting established businesses in Africa in achieving multinational growth to create thousands of jobs, are comfortable to engage with CEOs from across the continent and are a master of on-the-spot problem-solving. Governance

  • In charge of preparing regular updates to the Steering Committee of the initiative about progress of the programme
  • Interacts with the Steering Committee, organizes regular meetings with each sub-committee and leads all content preparation for such meetings
  • Manages the appointment and re-appointment of new steering committee members
  • Supports with the development of wider “ambassador” network around the initiative

 

Project management

  • Administers pool of nominated companies for the initiative and manages semi-annual nomination process for new companies to join
  • Leads the onboarding of new hidden champions and anchors the time management of case preparation about them
  • Drives the implementation of new value-added services for existing hidden champions
  • Oversees budget of the initiative against actual projections in close collaboration with the AFG Finance team

 

Event management

  • Design and implement a robust impact tracking system for AFG
  • Develop regular reporting on the level of impact achievement of AFG that is shared with internal and external stakeholders

Communication

  • Anchors the development of thought leadership content for hidden champions in collaboration with other team members
  • Leads regular updates to the hidden champions website
  • Publishes quarterly newsletters about the initiative

 

Expansion

  • Drives continued outreach to potential new partners such as business schools and media outlets for the initiative
  • Develops partnership proposals for new interested collaborators and/or funders to expand and complement the initiative

As the Head of IT at AFG, you will be in charge of managing all hardware and software issues of AFG. This opportunity is highly international as it entails working with team members from up to 20 different countries in addition to our core team in Accra, Ghana. It also requires working to integrate different IT systems used at AFG.

  • You are highly experienced in Technology Infrastructure and security, O365, Windows and Lenovo/ Microsoft hardware (corresponding certifications preferred)

Strategy design and execution 

  • Develop and implement the AFG Technology Strategy 
  • Develop and execute the AFG Cloud Strategy

IT Security and Governance 

  • Develop and implement policies related to network security, disaster recovery, and IT infrastructure 
  • Establish and implement a security policy to protect company information and resources 
  • Maintain and secure all computer systems and networks of AFG 

IT Project Management 

  • Monitor and analyze the success of IT initiatives and projects and continually develop and evaluate new technologies and tools for the company 
  • Manage development projects to integrate new technologies into existing systems 

IT Support and Management 

  • Establish, measure, and define IT goals and maintain an IT roadmap 
  • Plan and oversee the installation and maintenance of computer systems, hardware, and networks 
  • Manage AFG data management including backup and recovery, data privacy, data warehouse & analytics and AI. 
  • Manage AFG identity and access management (Emails/ Office Automation, SSO, Privilege Access, Segregation of Duty, Zero Trust Access, inter-alia) for all AFG users. 
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle management of all hardware and software assets 
  • Analyze resource utilization and develop strategies to optimize performance 
  • Direct the activities of the help desk to ensure the IT needs of users are met 
  • Manage the AFG IT Service Management including vendor/3rd Party Provider Management  
  • Perform ongoing support and maintenance of all hardware, software, and network components 
  • Provide continuous support to the engineering and other teams in the integration of proprietary tech platform of AFG with other software solutions.
